Hi, I’m Clare.
I have been fascinated in how we work, why we are how we are, and what makes us tick, for as long as I can remember. I was inspired to train as a yoga teacher, because I wanted to understand why some bodies could do certain poses, and others could not.
I started my search for deeper understanding, ease and relief in my teens, and devoured books and initiations, teachings and practices that challenged and expanded my mind. I discovered I loved learning (after I left school). All my searching led to many hours of training, many incredible teachers, hours of personal therapy, and receiving and giving bodywork and healing.
I believe in the human spirit, and our capacity for change.
My background
I started practicing Tai Chi and yoga while at school, and was initiated in Reiki I in 1999. I took the art and design path, a degree in interior design, and worked in London for 4 different start up companies in my early 20’s.
I was inspired to train to teach yoga at Yogacampus in 2009, and started working with my mother, Physiotherapist Sally Roberts, at her centre - ReCentre Health. I became the studio manager, while I also taught yoga across London, for a charity for women seeking asylum, and on retreats in Greece and Ibiza. I trained in NLP, coaching, holistic massage, Ayurveda, and was grateful to attend a series of 12, full day workshops on anatomy in the cadaver lab of a London teaching hospital with Julian Baker. By the time I was training in my 300 hour Yoga training with Katrina Repka, I was deeply fascinated in anatomy and was asked to start teaching anatomy modules on the 200hr training.
Pregnancy work found me the way the best things do — sideways. A student of mine got pregnant, I trained with Birthlight, and a small class for her NCT group grew into something much bigger. That thread — helping women understand what's happening in their bodies at the moments it matters most - has run through everything since: a decade-long partnership with Tara Lee (video series, a teacher training course, and My Pregnancy Yoga Journal, published with Watkins), teaching anatomy on trainings across London and beyond, and, more recently, training as a coach so I can go deeper with the women I work with, one to one.
